Gayle King: 2nd Amendment writers ‘talked about rifles’

On CBS Mornings on Wednesday, host Gail King wrote of the founders’ 2nd Amendment, “They were talking about rifles. If they were here now, I don’t think people would think that kids would have these machine guns. ”

After Rep Tony Gonzalez (R-TX), representing Uvalde, who wanted to discuss politics later, but not now, King said, “I hear you loud and clear and I definitely don’t want to talk about it. I also think of survivors and victims. But this is a problem. This happens all the time, and we keep going past it and saying: someone is doing something and nobody is doing anything. And we keep hearing that these are Second Amendment rights, the right to keep firearms. And when the Founding Fathers wrote this, I kept thinking they were talking about the rifle. If they were here today, I don’t think people would think that children would have these machines. So, if not to argue now, if not, don’t argue, argue, I just want to know… you are in a position of power. You will be able to change the situation. And if we can’t talk about it and change something, then when can we talk about it? This is the perfect day for me to talk. ”
