The head of the Israeli mission to Morocco, David Govrin, said that Minister of Science and Technology Orit Farkas-Hakohen is currently on a visit to Rabat to sign the first technology and science agreement between the two countries.

In a statement, he said: “We are very pleased today to host Israeli Minister of Science and Technology Orit Farkash Hacohen for a visit to Morocco, which coincided with the conclusion of a great economic event for innovation.” He stressed that “on this occasion, the first agreement in the field of technology and science between Morocco and Israel will be signed.” No official Moroccan statement on this matter has been made.

From May 23 to May 25, the Moroccan city of Casablanca hosted a forum organized by private companies called “Morocco – Israel: unity for innovation”, according to the official Moroccan agency. During the forum, Morocco and Israel signed 13 memorandums of understanding in the field of innovation and high-tech industry, the latest in a series of agreements to strengthen cooperation in many areas since the resumption of relations between the two countries.

On December 10, 2020, Israel and Morocco announced the resumption of diplomatic relations between them after their suspension in 2000. Of the 22 Arab countries, 6 countries maintain public diplomatic relations with Israel, namely Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, UAE, Bahrain and Sudan.
