A senior European official said British MPs would consider shelving the UK government’s Brexit bill in Northern Ireland.
The European Union’s foreign relations czar, Maros Šefčović, has become the latest European official to recommend to British politicians that his own government repeal a bill that suspends parts of the Northern Ireland Protocol, a bilateral agreement between the two powers that critics are currently talking about. As the application turns out to be unsuitable for use.
Šefčović’s proposal follows similar comments from Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney, who said earlier this week that some Conservative MPs expect his government to try to thwart attempts to smash the deal to largely abandon Northern Ireland in a single EU market. This creates trade barriers within the UK.
Responding to a question from him on Wednesday, Šefčović warned that the UK’s decision to unilaterally suspend parts of the deal could damage the country’s reputation and suggested that his and the European Union’s concerns would soon be bolstered by representatives of the British government. parliament.
“When the rule of law is what we’re discussing in every international forum today, does the UK want to go in that direction?” EU Commissioner’s question saying that unilateral suspension of parts of the protocol would be a violation of EU law.
“This is a political issue that I brought up,” he continued. “Now we are making the argument in the House of Commons, in the House of Lords, that I am sure there is a better way to resolve these issues than this legal dispute in the EU.”
The EU czar later warned that the EU would have to act if the British Parliament did not repeal a bill that suspends parts of the deal, but said “we are not there yet”.

Meanwhile, Europe brought its legal department to acknowledge the UK’s attempt to destroy parts of the protocol and announced the start of two separate lawsuits accusing the UK of not complying with the obligations set out in the protocol.
The EU’s activities appear to be self-centered, while the UK has allegedly failed to properly regulate the border control posts in Northern Ireland and also failed to provide Europe with sufficient data to monitor the movement of goods in the region. The single market is about security, for which it has expressed concerns.
“…the conditions that allow Northern Ireland to access a single EU market for goods are not intended to be changed by the UK,” Šefčović said on Wednesday. “It is simply illegal and politically unthinkable for the UK government to decide unilaterally which goods can enter our single market.”
Meanwhile, the bloc also stems from the reopening of a third lawsuit, which was frozen in March for the UK’s alleged failure to properly enforce the agri-food controls outlined in the protocol.
