Friedman recalls his angry reaction: “Do you think I failed my representation? I’m not politically correct, but I have to ask you why the laws of political certainty don’t apply to Jews.
Former Israeli ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, told Breitbart in an interview earlier this year that Friedman’s disclosure was no surprise.
“I worked in the State Department for many years. And I worked before that, I even wrote a thesis about it,” said Oren Breitbart.
Oren added that the State Department had for many years been “judenrein”, a reference to a Nazi term meaning “free from Jews.” Oren said that former President Harry Truman even accused the State Department of antisemitism.
Ören said it would not be easy to openly maintain Jewish loyalty, despite the fact that in recent years Jews have had a disproportionately stronger representation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The State Department will not sympathize with David. [Friedman]Who is an Orthodox Jew who speaks openly about God,” Oren said.

“But tell him to soften his Judaism? It’s like saying “Don’t be too Catholic” to the Vatican’s ambassador to the Vatican.

In a conversation with Breitbart last week, Friedman agreed. “I don’t think Israel has a home in the State Department yet,” he said. “And he’s definitely not here right now.
