In The New Day on CNN on Monday, writer, Washington Post columnist and CNN political analyst Josh Rogin said the Biden administration used “somewhat hypocritical” rhetoric about President Joe Biden’s meeting with Saudi leaders. Because despite Biden’s rhetoric, “when it comes to human rights, it’s always [get] short carnage” and “I am ashamed of real surrender to the Saudis for oil”. Rogin also argued that an oil deal with the Saudis that would significantly affect inflation could not be reached.
Rogin said, “I think their line, ah, we can see Mohammed bin Salman because he could be in a meeting, John is really hypocritical. Because of course everyone knows that President Biden has been avoiding meeting with Mohammed bin Salman for a year and a half and now he is on leave because he wants oil. And I don’t think it’s a good decision from a practical standpoint. Because I think it imposes all the wrong behavior. But at least the White House should be honest about it. If they want to say that they are breathing because we need oil and that is a human right. [are] it will have to disappear in the background, at least it will be simple. But what they’re trying to say is, we’re just going to a meeting, and if he shows up, he shows up, which everybody knows is bullshit.”
He continued: “Also, if they make the argument that we need to replace oil for human rights, I think that policy is also bad. Because at the end of the day, we won’t see an improvement in oil purchases that really impacts inflation, but we will see real damage to the human rights goal, and the Biden administration says its foreign policy is human. rights-oriented, but when it comes to that, human rights are always [get] short carnage And I think, Biden knows that and that’s why he’s really confused about what he’s putting up with, and that’s why it took so long and he seems sweet about it. But when he got there, he undoubtedly reached out with his hat to ask for oil from a cruel dictator, and in return he turned a blind eye to this dictator’s human rights violations.
