The social dialogue analyzes this Wednesday the mobility agreements of the workers

Government and social partners meet, this Wednesday, in the Social Dialogue to discuss the mobility agreements for workers and the simplification of the legal regime for the entry, stay, exit and exit of foreigners.

The meeting of the Permanent Commission for Social Dialogue (CPCS), chaired by the Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, will take place this Wednesday afternoon at the Economic and Social Council (CES), in Lisbon.

The meeting agenda includes the worker mobility agreements, as well as the simplification of the legal regime for the entry, stay, exit and departure of foreigners.

The social partners will also discuss the national priorities to be included in the European Commission’s Work Program for the year 2023, according to the call.

On July 15, the Council of Ministers approved several diplomas related to the mobility of workers, including the bill that modifies the legal regime for the entry, stay, exit and exit of foreigners from the national territory.

“This amendment constitutes a first step towards achieving the objectives enshrined in the Mobility Agreement between the Member States of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and allow it to be applied to all member States when they deposit their instruments of ratification”, reads the statement from the Council of Ministers.

The amendment also establishes “procedures that allow attracting regulated and integrated immigration, highlighting the definition of a title of limited duration that allows the legal entry of immigrants in Portugal with the aim of looking for work”, indicates the same document.

The Council of Ministers has also approved the decree approving the Agreement between the Portuguese Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco on the Work and Stay of Moroccan Workers in the Portuguese Republic, signed in Lisbon and Rabat.

This agreement defines the procedures for the admission of Moroccan citizens to carry out a professional activity, under an employment contract, in Portuguese territory.

In the press conference after the Council of Ministers, the Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Ana Catarina Mendes, explained that the Government approved the creation of a visa to look for work, which allows foreigners to enter the country for six months, and eliminated the immigration quota system.

“In the promotion of safe, orderly and regulated migrations and in the fight against labor shortages, a new type of visa is created, specifically the visa to search for work, which thus allows the entry into Portuguese territory of nationals of foreign states. who come looking for work for a period of 120 days, extendable to another 60 days, for a total of 180 days,” said Ana Catarina Mendes.

The minister also announced that the government has “definitively” eliminated what it considers “an anachronism for a long time, which is the quota system for residence visas for subordinate work.”
