Putting aside, once again, regret, Rio still considered that “I was able to change the tactic, now the strategy has not changed”. And he justifies himself: “I am not focused on results in public life. I live very focused on ideas and on what I consider important to do, trying to attract people to those ideas to achieve a good result and not the other way around”.

Acknowledging that many consider that he should have “more flexibility”, Rio thinks that he had “some flexibility” and “could have had a little more here and there”, but without ever losing his “way of being” and his convictions. .
Río Río makes his last speech this Friday as leader of the PSD, shortly before passing the testimony to Luís Montenegro, who will take office this weekend, during the party’s congress. Looking back, the Social Democrat acknowledged that “I lived more calmly with the right strongly marked by the CDS than by the Liberal Initiative and Chega”.
