PAN/Azores questions the Government about the operation of the Immediate Life Support Service

The PAN/Azores requested clarifications from the Regional Government this Wednesday on the operation of the Immediate Life Support Service (SIV) in the region, alleging that “it is important to know if the pre-hospital emergency vehicles have not responded to any request”.

The PAN request was made through a request delivered “directly to the Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service and the Regional Health and Sports Secretariat,” with the objective of “questioning the state of operation of the SIV (Immediate Life Support Service) in the region,” reports the party.

In a press release, the party highlights that the service provided by the teams of the medical emergency ground transportation system “is essential to help victims in pre-hospital emergencies and to provide emergency medical care.”

The PAN/Azores comes to request the necessary clarifications on the existing gaps in the composition of the current teams that make up this service”, justifies the party.

For the PAN/Azores, “it is important, above all, to know if the pre-hospital emergency vehicles did not respond to any request to patients/disasters and calls from the Medical Emergency Line due to lack of elements” of the crew team assigned to each service on all the islands where they operate.

The party still considers “essential” to know if the SIV has “trained” crew membersaccording to the protocols established by the Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service of the Azores” to respond to pre-hospital emergencies, and if the number of crew members “is sufficient to ensure the required departures during the 24 continuous hours”.

In the request, the sole PAN deputy in the Azores, Pedro Neves, also questioned the executive about the number of pre-hospital emergency vehicles available to “guarantee a timely response to requests for help.”

For Pedro Neves, quoted in the press release, “it is essential that, in order to guarantee the care provided in the pre-hospital environment and in the emergency room, the SIV has a complete and qualified team, capable of providing the emergency support that the communities need and request.”

The Regional Government is also required to act promptly and diligently, in order to overcome the existing deficiencies in the care of these health emergencies, taking into account the dispersed and archipelagic environment in which we live, “he adds.
