Chega/Azores wants explanations about alleged delays in applications for the Employment program

Chega/Azores warned this Thursday of the existence of “an indefinite number of nominations” to the Employment Maintenance Program II, which are supposedly still “under analysis”, and asked the Regional Government for explanations about the situation.

In a request presented to the Regional Legislative Assembly, the deputy of Chega nos Açores, José Pacheco, questions the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) about the candidates for the Program he wants “mitigate the effects of the pandemic on the economy of the Azores“, advances a note of the party.

José Pacheco stresses that “to date there is an undetermined number of candidates” that are still, supposedly, “In analysis“, after “more than a year and a half since the presentation of the respective candidacies”.

The parliamentarian highlights the importance of the support, within the scope of the program, to “many entrepreneurs from the Azores”.

Given that “all reasonable deadlines have been exceeded for the competent body to respond to employers”, Chega wants to know the number of companies that have applied for the Job Maintenance Program II.

The application also requests information on the number of projects that have already been approved and those that “were disapproved.”

“What is the reason why, after more than a year and a half since the opening of candidatures for this program, there are still a large number of candidatures that have not been approved and are under ‘analysis’?” asks the deputy.

For José Pacheco, quoted in a press release, “it is not acceptable that employers continue to wait for answers to their requestsendangering the survival of the companies themselves and the continuity of many jobs”.

The party recalls that the European Commission approved, last year, an Employment Maintenance Program II “worth 35 million euros”, and adds that “the Regional Government of the Azores opened applications for this same Program in January 2021 ”.
