The Government will finance 1.25 million euros for projects to support migrants or refugees

The Secretary of State for Equality and Migration (SEIM) launched this Friday a contest to finance a total of 1.25 million euros for initiatives that promote integration, education and support for migrants or refugees.

The money is intended to finance projects of up to two years in the field of “integration, information, awareness, training or advice for migrants, refugees, beneficiaries of international and temporary protection in Portugal or third-country nationals (NPT)”, he explains. the SEIM in a statement.

Applications run through October 03 and are open to “Private non-profit entities, legal persons under public law, belonging to the local administration, as well as entities of the regional public administration”.

Regarding the projects, the regulation establishes that the Actions must focus on at least one of the four predefined areas.

On the one hand, projects that promote or support active integration measures and initiatives that promote non-formal education actions, for example for the teaching of the Portuguese language.

The event will also support associations that promote days of awareness and appreciation of diversity and intercultural and interreligious dialoguewith the aim of supporting immigrants in Portuguese society, explains the statement.

Another of the four areas refers to the constitution of multidisciplinary teams intended for support related to issues such as housing, training and employment, access to education, health, assistance to minors or psychological and social support.
