The Erasmus+ budget almost doubled, highlighting the islands and the countryside

The global budget of the Erasmus+ program has almost doubled compared to the previous cycle, with an emphasis on the islands and for young people from the interior and with fewer opportunities, the Erasmus+ Youth/Sport and European Solidarity National Body (CES) reported this Friday.

The values ​​approved for 2021/22 of the Erasmus+ and CES programs reach €17.2 millionsays the Agency in a statement released on the occasion of International Youth Day.

According to the data presented in the statement, 7.5% of the global budget was approved in the islands, 17% of the programs cover young people and institutions from the interior, and young people with fewer opportunities are the recipients of half of this investment.

So far there are 12,111 participants in the Erasmus+ and CES programmes.

The International Youth Day, originating in Portugal, focuses on the education and awareness of young people about the responsibility they assume as representatives of the future of the planet.

It was created by resolution 54/120, at the initiative of the United Nations, in 1999, as a result of the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth, held in Lisbon.

The date is marked with the presentation, in Ponte de Sor, of a traveling exhibition information that will tour the country until December, ending on International Volunteer Day, December 5.

The initiative aims to publicize the Agency and the opportunities in the field of Erasmus+ and CES programs “in a decentralized and extended manner, reaching the greatest number of young people throughout the country”, and It will pass through the 18 counties of the Peninsula and Autonomous Communities.
