The ruling on the draft resolution delivered by Chega and which wants to censure the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, was once again postponed. The PAN, which was left with the pending task after the PSD’s refusal, invoked the “special complexity” of the document to ask for more time.
The project presented by Chega has been on hold since before the parliamentary vacation and has now been postponed again, with deputy Inês Sousa Real asking the president of the Constitutional Affairs Commission of the Assembly of the Republic, Fernando Negrão, to postpone the deadline. The opinion is now addressed to the Next meeting of the parliamentary committee, although without guarantees.
Censorship of Santos Silva. PAN seems that PSD refused because it wanted to avoid “political folklore”
In the resumption of parliamentary work, the PSD, which was designated as the first author of the opinion, refused to draft the document, alleging that he was not going to interfere in the dispute between Augusto Santos Silva and Chega and that the matter should be resolved between them. The president of the Comissão de Assuntos Constitucionais was also forced to redistribute the realization of his opinion, having been the PAN or the first party to accept, after the recusals of the PS and the Liberal Initiative — as the PCP and the Bloco de Esquerda to be outside the room in that moment.
After several episodes between the President of the Assembly of the Republic and the deputies of Chega, the party led by André Ventura presented a draft resolution in July – that is, only a political position – censoring the The behavior of Augusto Santos Silva. The President of the Parliament sent the project to the Committee on Constitutional Affairs for raising doubts about the possibility of a deputy censoring the conduct of another through this mechanism. With the parliamentary recess and the refusal of the PSD, three months later, the opinion has not yet been finalized.
