At a time when the issue of right-wing governability once again dominated the political and media agenda, Rui Rocha, deputy and member of the Liberal Initiative (IL) executive committee, reaffirms that the party will never make any agreement with Chega. Instead, the parliamentarian criticizes Luís Montenegro: “I have not seen that clarity. As it happened with Rui Rio, I see some confusion here with the Chega issue”.
In an interview with Observador, on the Vichyssoise program, Rui Rocha does not deny that the hypothesis of the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic or the resignation of the Government is on the table if things continue like this and presses Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to shudder. “The systematic positioning of the President has been much more permissive than democratic self-interest would justify,” he argues.
The deputy of the Liberal Initiative also leaves a warning to the socialist navigation. “As much as the President of the Government would like to, we are not in Costaquistan, we are in Portugal and we have to keep the institutions running.”
