Less than 20 hours before the Assembly of the Republic approves the legalization of euthanasia, former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho wrote an opinion article in the Observer where he criticizes and presses The PSD of Luis Montenegro taking a position on euthanasia, not only for this Friday, but for when he is part of the majority in the Assembly of the Republic.
Euthanasia: a (too) radical decision
After the leadership of Montenegro —as had happened with that of Rui Rio— had once again given the PSD bench freedom to vote and had not ruled on the matter, Passos Coelho veiledly criticized this position of his party: “A Es It is one thing to accept conscientious objection in this type of decision, another is claim that you don’t have one conception of these issues as a party and that the deputies decide for themselves what their conscience tells them”.
