The third Gulf Sports Games, which will be hosted by Kuwait until the 31st of this month, kicked off on Monday under the patronage of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, with over 1,700 male and female athletes from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and host Kuwait.
Athletes compete in 16 sports, including 6 among women, who compete in the Gulf Games for the first time.
Here are the highlights from the first day:
Futsal:
– Kuwait women’s futsal team tied with the UAE team 1:1.
The Bahrain women’s futsal team beat Saudi Arabia 4-1.
The Saudi Arabia futsal team beat Bahrain 3-1.
Basketball:
The basketball team of Kuwait beat Qatar with a score of 73:55.
