Brazil’s Flamengo have booked their place in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores after a 3-0 home win over Chile’s Universidad Catolica in the penultimate fifth round of the group stage.

Three goals for Flamengo were scored by Willian Arau in the 7th d, Everton Ribeiro doubled the lead with six minutes left in the first half and Pedro Guilherme ended the streak in the last minute of the match.

With this victory, Flamengo’s lead rose to 13 points, extending their lead in Group H, 5 points ahead of Argentina’s Talleres Córdoba, who was trapped in a draw with Peruvian Sporting Cristal, last in the group, by two points.

Brazilian Corinthians were also close to qualifying for the round of 16 after a 1-1 draw with Boca Juniors and maintained a one-point lead over Boca in Group E with eight points. While Deportivo Cali and Always Reddy have five points and four points respectively, they have two matches ahead of them tomorrow.

Argentina’s Estudiantes La Plata also confirmed their qualification to the round of 16 after a 1-0 away win over second-placed Brazil’s Bragantino in Group C with 13 points.
