Chelsea have said goodbye to former player Antonio Ruediger as Real Madrid officially announced the arrival of the German defender.

A Chelsea statement said: “We say goodbye to Antonio Rudiger as he leaves Stamford Bridge following the expiration of his Chelsea contract, having completed his five trophy-filled years at the club. The German defender left the Blues for Real Madrid, playing a huge role in our success in recent seasons. Rudiger has won the FA Cup, the Champions League, the Europa League, the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup with Chelsea, playing a decisive role in all these victories at the heart of our defence.

He continued: “The 29-year-old has also been an important figure in the dressing room thanks to his leadership and passion, and his dedication and desire to win never wavered even when it became clear he was leaving the club this summer.” In his final season, he played 54 games in all competitions, more than any other Chelsea player. He left with 203 games and 12 goals to his name and during that time he has established himself as one of the most passionate people representing the club. .”

“Chelsea Football Club would like to thank Tony for his contribution to our success over the past five years and wish him all the best in his future career.”
