William Slepa has announced that he will return to Arsenal before the start of the season.
The 21-year-old joined Arsenal from Saint-Étienne in 2019 for £27m but has yet to play in competitive first-team play.
Instead, he was sent on loan to Saint-Étienne, as well as Nice and Marseille, where he ultimately excelled in the 2021–22 season.
Speaking to Telefoot, the French international said he was ready to show his “true face” to coach Michael Arteta, whose team will compete in the Europa League next season, and represent “this great club”.
He said: “I belong to Arsenal and I still have two years left. But it doesn’t just depend on me. In any case, it would be a shame to leave like this.”
He also thanked Slepa Marcel for helping him reach a higher level in his career and showing people his true worth.
