Despite belonging to Oceania, Australia is the sixth team from the Asian zone to qualify, joining Saudi Arabia, South Korea, a team led by Portugal’s Paulo Bento, Iran, Japan and hosts Qatar.
The largest contingent belongs to Europe, with 13 teams, among them Portugal, which makes its eighth and sixth consecutive participation, in addition to Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, France, England, Wales, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia and Switzerland.
In the final phase, there are also five teams from Africa (Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia), four from South America (Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and Uruguay) and three from CONCACAF (Canada, United States and Mexico).
The 32nd and last wave will be for the winners of play off intercontinental match between Costa Rica, 4th in CONCACAF, and New Zealand, champion of Oceania, who meet this Tuesday in Doha.
The 2022 World Cup takes place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18.
