Spanish club Celta Vigo have announced that the new Portuguese sports director of Paris Saint-Germain, French Ligue 1 champion Luis Campos continues to work as an “external sports adviser” to the team.

Celta Vigo can confirm that Luis Campos has been with the club for several months now as an external sports advisor and Juan Carlos Calero as first team coordinator,” the Spanish club said in a statement.

“Both sides want the relationship to last for many more years,” he added.

The statement of clarification for Celta came a week after the official announcement of the appointment of the 57-year-old Campos as the sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain in place of the sacked Brazilian Leonardo.

Known as a strong personality with recognized competence, Campos was a former sporting director at AS Monaco and Lille and won their surprise titles in 2017 and 2021 respectively.

And his first move at Paris Saint-Germain will be signing a new manager to replace Argentinean Mauricio Pochettino, who was announced by several media outlets on Tuesday night that the Paris club was about to sack him.
