Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of the Dutch Like Martens for a three-year contract until 2025, after the end of her contract with Barcelona.

Martens, 29, joined Saint-Germain on a free deal following the expiration of her contract with Barcelona this month and previously confirmed her departure via the Instagram app, saying “it’s time to go on a new adventure.”

The former best player in the world has won the La Liga with Barcelona three times in a row, as well as the European Women’s Champions League in 2021 and twice won the continental championship.

She wrote: “After five great years in a great club and a great city, I have decided to separate from the club and start a new adventure.” She added: “I came to Barcelona at a time when the club was aiming to be the world leader in women’s football and we have been working hard and I think we have reached our desired goals five years ago (2017) as a Barcelona player.

Notably, Martens contributed to the Dutch victory at the 2017 European Championship and was selected as the tournament’s MVP as well as the MVP of Europe in the same year.
