Black Rifle Coffee also faced backlash from conservatives in 2020 and 2021 when it said it had no affiliation or partnership with Kyle Rittenhouse before he was acquitted of murder on the basis of self-defense. The public outcry came after BlazeTV host Elijah Shaffer posted a photo of Rittenhouse wearing a Black Rifle Coffee shirt with the caption, “Kyle Rittenhouse is drinking the best coffee in America.”
Shaffer later deleted the post, and company CEO Evan Hafer said the company was “not sponsored” and had nothing to do with the 17-year-old charges in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
