Belgian rider Vot van Aert won Stage 8 of the Tour de France on Saturday in Lausanne, while Slovenian title holder Tadi Pogacar kept the yellow jersey in third place.

Second place went to Australian Michael Mathews.

The win is Van Aert’s second on this year’s tour, considering he has also been second on three occasions.

Bogačar, champion of the last two races, leads the standings, 39 seconds behind Jonas Winggard of Denmark and one minute and 14 seconds behind Geraint Thomas of Britain.

In this phase, 186.3 km long, there was a massive drop after its launch of nine kilometers and the first two cases of the Corona virus were found, linked to Norwegian Wigard Stecke Lingen and Frenchman Geoffrey Bouchard, who did not participate in it.
