Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar condemned Fenerbahce fans’ chants in support of Russian President Vladimir Putin during his reception of Dynamo Kyiv in a Champions League qualifier in Istanbul.

Photographs on social media show several Turkish fans chanting the name of the Russian president in response to Dynamo’s first goal against the landlords.

Dynamo Kyiv won the match 2-1 after the two teams drew 0-0 in the first leg match played in Poland amid Russia’s war against Ukraine to advance from the first to the third round of qualifying for the group stage. .

And Bodnar tweeted through his Twitter account: “Football is a fair game. Yesterday Dynamo Kiev was stronger.”

“It is very sad to hear words of support from Fenerbahce fans against the Russian killer and aggressor who bombed our country,” he added.

“I am grateful to the friendly Turkish people for supporting Ukraine and for thinking about the inadequate behavior of the masses,” he added.

“Everything went according to our plans, and we won. But we did not take into account the fans. I did not expect such slogans. What a pity,” the Ukrainian coach said in a television interview.
