The fifth stage of the Femmes women’s Tour de France turned into a mass of collided metal and cyclists, where about 30 women collided, causing a huge crowd.
Several people were injured and at least one driver was hospitalized in the crash, which occurred just 45 kilometers from the finish line.
It is believed that the proximity of the drivers to the finish line contributed to the accident as the racetrack narrowed and the drivers were accelerating towards each other. As a result, a driver crashed and the cyclists collided and fell to the ground causing a chain reaction.
It didn’t take long for the pile to completely block the path. Ambulance teams came to the scene and started to treat the injured, while those who were not injured quickly jumped on their bikes and tried to finish the race.
Danish racing driver Emma Norsgaard broke her collarbone in an accident.
