Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson dismisses critics: ‘They hate Jesus, I’m not Jesus’

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson doesn’t care much about his critics, and noted on Thursday that Jesus has his critics too.

At Thursday’s press conference, the 25-year-old 2019 MVP and Pro Bowl player was asked how he handled all the negativity. And in his answer, Jackson put Jesus of Nazareth into the equation.

“You work hard trying to be great, there will be downsides,” Jackson told reporters. “But you know they hate Jesus, and I’m not Jesus. So I’m not really worried.”

Jackson is in the final year of his original contract with the Raves and will earn $23 million this season. But while he says he hopes to remain a Baltimore Raven for life, he and his team have yet to agree on a new contract for 2023.

This spring, Jackson missed the volunteer training camp, although he later attended the mandatory training camp. But he added that he and his team are “still talking” about the extension.

He also ominously stated that things weren’t going well, which could be a “breaking point” for contract negotiations.

However, the last time Jackson spoke voluntarily, he ran into some trouble. He was heard talking to HBO hosts back in March. That there is “still” a lot of racism against black quarterbacks in the NFL. “He’s still there. That’s why I need this championship,” said LeBron James when he declared that racism is “dying but still exists.”

However, after the sports media reported on Jackson’s comments, he disputed the quote and accused journalists of trying to create controversy.
