The new star of Bayern Munich, German football champion, Senegal national team player Sadio Mane, wasted no time in contacting his new colleagues and said that this summer he brought with him to the Bavarian capital “traditional German form.”

In an interview with Bayern Munich’s official website, Mane said he keeps the traditional Leederhausen leather pants he got when he defended the Austrian Red Bull Salzburg in the hope that one day he will wear them to the famous Oktoberfest (beer festival) in Munich.

“Unfortunately not yet, but I’m really looking forward to it,” Manet said when asked if he had ever been to the festival, which saw the light of day 222 years ago.

“I even had Lederhausen (traditional leather pants) at home since I played in Salzburg. I kept them because I’ve always enjoyed wearing them and I’m generally interested in other cultures,” he added.

He continued, “Actually, I have been to the city (Munich) many times before with friends. And once we were at the Allianz Arena, in the Champions League match against Arsenal. At the time, I just didn’t imagine that one day I would play here.”

The 30-year-old will not only be in the spotlight when Bayern Munich hold their annual festival in September, but has already shown how important he is to Germany’s 2022-23 record holder.

Mane scored in Bayern Munich’s 5-3 win over Leipzig in the local Supercup last Saturday, in his first official match with the club since his move to the club from Liverpool this summer.

His arrival in Munich helped allay fears from Bayern fans over the departure of the historic Pole Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona as the Bavarian club aim to win an eleventh consecutive Bundesliga title.

The best player of the continent in 2019 and 2022 issued a stern warning after the match, saying that Bayern “could do better” despite winning the tenth Super Cup.

“This is just the beginning of the season. We still have time to work on excellence,” he added.

The Senegalese international has scored 120 goals in 269 games for Liverpool, winning several titles, most notably the 2019 European Champions League, the 2020 English Premier League and the 2019 Club World Cup.

His talent for scoring decisive goals in important matches will come in handy as Munich look to make up for their formidable striker Lewandowski.

The Poland international has scored 344 goals in 375 games in eight seasons with Bayern, although Munich believes Lewandowski’s departure could be a blessing in disguise.

Bayern Munich will kick off their 60th Bundesliga season on Friday night away from home against Eintracht Frankfurt, the Europa League title winner, the Europa League.
