The Portuguese Pedro Pablo Pichardo, triple jump world champion, finished this Saturday in second position in the meeting in Silesia, Poland, a Diamond League competition, with a jump of 17.29 metersbehind Cuban Andy Diaz.
Just over a week before the start of the European Championship in Munich, Pichardo, who won the world title with a time of 17.95, managed the best brand in poland in his third jump, after scoring 16.96 in the first and 17.27 in the second.

After giving up the fourth jump, Pichardo, who is also an Olympic champion, jumped the 16.83 Y 17.06 on the last two attempts.
Andy Diaz finished the race in first positionwith the mark of 17.53and the Chinese Zhu Yaming, silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Games, was third, with 17.25.
In the shot put, Auriol Dongmo took fifth place, with a shot from 19.27 meters, in a competition won by the American Chase Ealey, who scored 20.38 on the third attempt.
Leandro Ramos was eighth in the javelin throwing contest, with a mark of 68.94, far from his personal best (84.78) and the winner of the competition, the Czech Jakub Vadlejch, who finished with 86.68.
The three Portuguese athletes who attended the meeting in Silesia this Saturday are among the 43 called for the European Athletics Championships, to be held in Munich, Germany, from August 15 to 21.
