The African Football Confederation is preparing to introduce a new test for all teams that will participate next year in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Morocco, to avoid age fraud.
The Cameroonian reports indicated that the CAF executive committee would strive not to make the mistakes of the past and avoid “falsifying player ages” in the U-23 Africa Cup Morocco 2023, so it was decided to adopt “magnetic resonance imaging – MRI”.
The magnetic resonance test aims to determine the real age of people through a test performed on the bones, and then “CAF” will check if the biological age of each player matches that indicated by the local federation for each team.
And CAF has decided not to tolerate any team that will provide “false” information about the age of their players, and if fraud is proven, they will be excluded from the competition.
Mauritania withdrew from the West African Under-15 Championship after accusing the teams participating in the tournament of playing with older players.
This tournament was played with 4 teams from the 9 members of the West African Confederation: Senegal, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Mauritania who played one match against Sierra Leone and lost by six and then announced their withdrawal immediately after that.
