A team of restorers and archaeologists from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities has completed the restoration work on the temple of the god Amun-Ra, one of the seven chapels in the Temple of Set I in Abydos, Sohag Governorate.
Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, announced that currently the restoration work of the Temple of Seti I and other temples and archaeological sites in Egypt will come under the plan of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. He added that it is planned to gradually restore all the chapels in the temple as the restoration of the temple of the god Ra Hor Akhti, by developing archaeological sites to attract Egyptian visitors and tourists, which promoting the product of cultural tourism in Egypt. was launched recently.
Mohamed Abdel Badi, head of Upper Egypt’s Central Administration of Antiquities, said the cabin of the god Amun-Ra was one of seven cabins in the Set I Temple at Abydos. The god Amun-Ra Cabin has a series of scenes representing the journey of the sacred boat to the other world and some religious rituals and offerings to the god Amun-Ra.
Saadi Zaki, General Manager of Upper Egypt Antiquities Restoration, pointed out that the restoration work of the temple of the god Amun-Ra took about 3 months, and it included cleaning dirt and soot using mechanical cleaning and others’ another brush. chemical cleaning to clean the soot layers on the ceiling and walls of the cabin, completing the missing parts of the walls and ceiling, strengthening the colors and then the insulation phase.
