Ecuador will officially host the 2022 Copa Libertadores final in Guayaquil in one match.
Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lazo and CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez have signed an agreement to host the final of the continental championship on 29 October.
Laso emphasized during the signing ceremony that they are very pleased to host this event in Ecuador, which is of continental and global importance, expressing his gratitude to CONMEBOL for choosing Ecuador to host this final.
For his part, Dominguez thanked the President for signing this agreement and his government’s commitment to hosting this outstanding sporting event.
Laso also thanked CONMEBOL for choosing his country’s capital as the venue for the Women’s Copa Libertadores, which will take place next October with 16 South American teams.
For his part, Dominguez confirmed that changing the format of the Libertadores final from two home matches to a final with one match at a certain location was one of CONMEBOL’s best decisions.
