Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo urged Manchester United management to drop captain Harry Maguire last season.
Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford did not go as planned and caused a lot of tension as the team finished the season in sixth place and qualified for the Europa League.
According to British newspaper The Athletic, Ronaldo was part of a group of players who climbed Rangnick in Carrington, where Ronaldo’s message was clear when he said: “Maguire is part of the problem.”
Rangnick told players, including Ronaldo, that it was “inappropriate” to talk about Maguire in his absence.
Ronaldo also had an opinion about the team, and the 37-year-old wanted to play alongside Edinson Cavani up front, but his pleas were in vain.
Notably, Ronaldo has been linked with leaving the Red Devils this summer in light of his desire to compete in the Champions League next season.
