The Portuguese coach Pedro Caixinha left the technical command of the Talleres soccer team, a position he had held since March, after a defeat at the Rosario Central stadium (1-0) for the championship, the Argentine shield announced on Monday.
Caixinha, 51, leaves Talleres in 24th place in the Argentine League with just four points more than last-placed Lanús (28), and after a record five consecutive games without winning in the competition.
During his time at the club from the Cordoba area, the Beja coach achieved just three wins in 16 league games, but led Talleres to an unprecedented presence in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, in which he ended up eliminated by Vélez Sarsfield.
Since 2012/13, Caixinha has spent his entire career outside Portugal, with Santos Laguna (Mexico), Al-Gharafa (Qatar), Rangers (Scotland), Cruz Azul (Mexico) and Al-Shabab (Saudi Arabia), before arrive in Argentina.
In Portuguese football, the Alentejo coach directed União de Leiria and Nacional da Madeira.
