Chelsea have announced the sacking of their German manager Thomas Tuchel.

This decision was made after the defeat of the London team in the first round of the Champions League from Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia) with a score of 1:0.

This defeat was preceded by defeats in the English Premier League from Leeds United 0:3 and from Southampton 1:2.

The club said in a statement: “On behalf of all Chelsea FC staff, the club would like to formally thank Thomas and his assistants for all their efforts during their time with the club.”

He added: “Thomas will have an important place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and the Club World Cup during his time here.”

He continued, “As the new ownership group is 100 days old from the club’s acquisition and they continue to work hard to move the club forward, the new owners feel the time has come to make this change.”

He concluded by saying: “The Chelsea coaching staff will take on the responsibility of educating the team and preparing for our upcoming fixtures as the club moves quickly towards the appointment of a new head coach.”
