Chelsea co-owner Todd Boyle contacted the other two managers ahead of Graham Potter’s appointment last week.

Chelsea signed Potter from Brighton and also brought his assistant to the team.

The Mirror reported that Sporting Lisbon coach Robin Amorim received a call from Chelsea days before Tuchel’s departure. The highly rated Portuguese manager has earned much praise for the outstanding work he did in Lisbon, leading the club to its first Portuguese title in 19 years.

Former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino was another high-profile candidate Boili was reportedly contacted.

The Argentine coach has been out of a job since leaving the Parc des Princes earlier this summer and is believed to be waiting for the right opportunity to return to football.

However, Boyle chose to go ahead with his business plan and appoint Potter as Tuchel’s successor.
