Former Juventus duo Alessandro Del Piero and Claudio Marchisio spoke about the reasons for the old lady’s failures this season under coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Juventus lost a second successive Champions League match against Benfica at home and among fans after losing in the first round to Paris Saint-Germain.

“Of course, this is not the best period for Juventus,” Del Piero told Sky Sports.

He explained, “The players have to face each other to try and get back on the right track by correcting the mistakes. We must not forget about injuries.”

He continued: “Without all these players, we will see Juventus differently, the team has real problems creating opportunities and maintaining intensity, especially in Europe.”

He continued: “Benfica used a defensive style and tried to keep the win, they know what they have to do, the players of the Italian club have to give more despite all these problems.”

Marchisio continued: “Bonucci spoke of physical and mental fatigue.”

And he concluded: “The players looked confused, also without the ball, suffered from large spaces on the field and loneliness, that’s what Danilo and McKinney had, we are only at the beginning of the season, unlike other teams.”
