Arsenal manager Michael Arteta has revealed that 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri will play against Brentford in the Premier League.

The Gunners thrashed the opposition 3-0 on Matchday 8 of the Premier League, with 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri taking part in the match.

“There was a special feeling inside, I met the boy and I really liked what I saw about him, after Mertesacker and the academy staff gave me really good information about him,” Arteta said at the post-match press conference.

He continued: “I met him and trained with us several times and he had to come to the team because we have injuries, especially Martin Odegaard’s injury, and then I felt that if the opportunity presented itself, I would do it and give him and I did it.”

He was asked what his advice to the player was and he replied “I can’t tell you, it’s only between me and him and I will advise him indoors.”

He added: “I’m happy with the way we played, we were the best and were able to impose our style from the first minute, despite being up against a difficult team, but we managed to come back with three points.”

He concluded, “We’re in the lead now after losing him recently, but we were able to get him back before the international break and that’s very important.”
