The Sharjah club from the United Arab Emirates announced the signing of a two-year contract with the Greek defender Kostas Manolas from the Greek club Olympiacos.

Manolas, 31, underwent a medical on his arrival in Sharjah before joining the club as he will become the third foreign player to be hired by the club during this summer’s transfers, after signing Spanish striker Paco Al Qasir and Bosnian Miralem Drunk.

Manolas has previously played for several clubs, most notably Roma and Napoli in Italy and AEK Athens, the most recent being Olympiacos.

Manolas, who made 42 caps for Greece and won the Coppa Italia with Napoli in 2020, has made eight appearances for Olympiacos in all competitions this season before his contract was terminated.

Sharjah are second in the UAE Pro League with 9 points, with a goal difference from leaders Al Jazeera.
