Bayer Leverkusen president Fernando Caro said his team’s manager Gerardo Sivane needs to achieve positive results to stay in his position, referring to the search for a potential new coach.

Sivani took charge of the team for the first time last year, during which Leverkusen finished third, but is currently in penultimate position after 8 league matches, losing 0-4 to Bayern Munich.

“The club has faith in Shivani and is convinced of his abilities, but the team needs to get good results, especially starting with the Champions League match against Porto on Tuesday,” Karo told Sport 1 network.

He noted: “The situation cannot continue as it was at the meeting with Bayern in Munich. This is unacceptable”.

He added: “We want to make a difference with him, but we are not naive. We’re not ready.”

Caro came forward saying that Sivani’s stay would point to the club’s inability to find an alternative, but he was controversial when he spoke of the possibility of former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel taking charge of the team.

And he concluded: “Thomas Tuchel is an excellent coach and Rudi Völler, the former sporting director of Leverkusen, was in contact with him many years ago.”
