This Friday, Cristiano Ronaldo expressed the pride he feels in representing Portugal, in a message left on his Instagram account, at a time when he is part of the Portuguese team at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

“World Championships is achieving a feat I would never have dared to dream of, but it is also proof that nothing is impossible. The pride I feel in representing Portugal is only comparable to the joy I feel in every goal I score for my country, translated into victories dedicated to our people. Let’s go! This is just beginning!”, can be read in the note left this Friday on that social network.

The Portuguese international reached this Thursday, after Portugal’s victory over Ghana 3-2, in a Group H first leg match, a new record, becoming the first player in history to score in five different editions of the World Cup football, by scoring in Portugal’s debut in this edition of the World Cup.

In the 65th minute, the player, who is without a club after the termination “with immediate effect” on Tuesday with Manchester United, scored the first Portuguese goal, from a penalty, repeating what was achieved in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.

Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, had scored a goal in each of his first three appearances (2006, 2010 and 2014) and four in his last (2018), having added the eighth goal on Thursday, in a day in which he turned game 18 in the competition.

Also noteworthy is the fact that the player scored Portugal’s 50th goal in the World Cup finals, making the Portuguese team the 17th to reach 50 goals in the World Cup, on a list headed by the ubiquitous Brazil, with 231 ( 110 games), followed by Germany, with 227 (110), and Argentina, with 138 (82).
