The arms trade website that specializes in military matters has announced that it will begin a new phase in the development of a new generation of submarine missiles for the UK navy.
According to the site, “The British Ministry of Defense has signed a $ 2 billion contract with BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce to begin the third phase of development of Dreadnought strategic nuclear submarines.”
The website states that the third phase is considered to be one of the most important stages in the said submarine development project, which will complete the construction of the first of four Dreadnought submarines previously contracted by the British Ministry of Defense for the country’s army. . .
And the media has previously said that the Dreadnought submarines will be the largest missile submarines in the British Navy, and the length of each will be 153.6 meters, and the amount of water displacement will be equal to 17,200 tons.
Each submarine in this category is armed with 12 Trident-2 ballistic missiles, capable of carrying nuclear warheads, and these submarines will also have a 533 mm torpedo launch system.
