Dutch police have announced that they have used “Deep Viking” technology to solve a murder committed twenty years ago in the parking lot of a Rotterdam metro station.
Police have uploaded video of a teenager being shot and killed in the parking lot of the Rotterdam metro station, seeking information and testimony to solve the mystery of his murder.
Police thought the move could be the first of its kind in the world.
More than a minute of video shows the boy waving at the camera and catching the ball while playing soccer. Then, to the sound of moving music, he went to a guard at the stadium, where his relatives, former teachers and friends were located.
In the video, a voice is heard saying, “Someone must know who killed my dear brother, so in this video (Suares) is alive again”, then Cedar stops the video and throws the ball.
“Do you know anything else? If he speaks, ”said Cedar and his relatives and friends, before the young man’s photo disappeared from the stadium and details on how to contact police by phone or email emerged.
“This is a very positive signal that the police have received dozens of pieces of information,” Rotterdam police spokeswoman Lilian van Duvenbode told AFP a day after the video was released. “But we have not yet evaluated whether the data is useful.”
Cedar Soares was shot and killed while throwing snowballs with his friends in the parking lot of Rotterdam metro station in 2003.
The murder of the 13-year-old has baffled police for years, and now, with the permission of the Soares family, they have made a video asking for the public’s help in solving the teenager’s cold crime.
