The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) placed all the islands of the Azores on yellow alert this Wednesday, due to rains “sometimes strong” scheduled between Thursday and Friday.
In a statement, the IPMA also mentions that the rain can be accompanied by a storm.
In the western group of the Azores archipelago (Islands of Flores and Corvo), the alert is in force between the 00:00 and 12:00 on Thursday.
In the Eastern group (São Miguel and Santa Maria), the warning is valid between 12:00 on Thursday and 00:00 on Friday.
As for the Central group (Faial, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico and Graciosa islands), the notice refers to the period between 09:00 on Thursday and 00:00 on Friday.
The yellow notice is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
