The Cascade military-operational unit of the forces of the Donetsk Republic received two unique homemade launchers.
This was announced on the “Telegram” channel of President Denis Yuchislin on August 21. He said that these two systems first appeared at a military parade in Donetsk on May 9. They were designed locally at the initiative of former President Alexander Zakharchenko .
The system is named “Cheburashka” after a popular Russian children’s game.
In terms of operating principle, the Cheburashka is a heavy flame launcher similar to the Russian-made “Solntsebuk” (Burning Sun) system, as it fires 217 mm thermobaric missiles. But the Russian system has a block with 24 tubes, while the Cheburashka system has two rotating blocks with 32 tubes each.
The system specializes in eliminating hidden manpower in reinforced trenches and bunkers and concrete plants.
The operating range of “Cheburashka” is 10 kilometers. Its caliber is unlike any flamethrower in the world.
The system is installed on the platform of the heavy Krazz truck, which allows it to move quickly and overcome most natural obstacles.
