The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that the country’s navy has begun testing two new submarines developed for the army.
“The Russian army, in cooperation with experts, has begun a new phase of testing of the new Ufa and Kronstadt submarines, built at the Admiralty shipyards for the Russian Ministry of Defense,” the ministry’s press service said in a statement. Said.
“Tests are being conducted in the Baltic Fleet’s military sea areas, the two submarines are accompanied by ships and marine vessels, and are escorted by the Baltic Fleet’s rescue ship SS-750,” the statement said.
The Ministry said that during the experiments, the two submarines must dive to 100 depths of the water surface, and during their dive, the crew and experts will examine all their systems and main components and develop algorithm. It is necessary for diving and surfacing mechanisms.
“Ufa” is the fourth submarine developed by Russia for the Pacific Fleet within the framework of Project 636. Work on the development of this submarine began in 2019, and several Russian submarines are currently under construction in of the framework of the said project. As for the Lada submarine type “Kronstadt”, development work began in 2005, and it first entered the water in 2018, and in October last year Russian media said that it should be delivered to the army of Russia. It will take place in 2022.
