With these shoes, Cupra ends with sustainable footwear (“made in Portugal”)

Cupra, Seat’s sports emblem, to which the Volkswagen Group gives priority to total electrification, continues on the path of sustainability, always starting from Barcelona as a starting point. Hence the continuity of the alliance with Mikakus, a sports shoe company based in that Spanish city, like Cupra. From the association of these two brands comes a new model for walking the streets, which is produced in Portugal. They are slippers, of course, inspired by the Born district of Barcelona – the same one that served to name the electric concept equivalent to the Volkswagen ID.3, which first appeared to carry the Seat emblem and then passed the production version to the Cupra.

The Mikakus x Cupra Born, as the shoes are called, have another peculiarity: “These are the brand’s first genderless sneakers”, which reveals that there is a concern on the part of both brands to know the new trends. And these also increasingly value sustainable options, which is why the material used in the elaboration of Born for feet is “made of recycled, treated and rejuvenated textiles that give the best properties to the footwear, making it resistant, flexible and waterproof”. In addition to this special fabric, called “Ecolive”, the new Mikakus shoes are distinguished by their connection to the car in details such as the codes on the back of the soles and the rear clip, details that respectively evoke the code of the tires that Born wears and the seat belts of a car.

According to the global director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at Cupra, Antonino Labate, the new sneakers they are more than a pair of shoes available in three colors (blue, black and khaki). “The Mikakus x Cupra Born sneakers are further proof of our ambition to create a lifestyle inspired by our values, which go beyond the car itself“, said Labate, taking the opportunity to highlight that Cupra shares with Mikakus the “vision of inspiring the world from Barcelona, through exclusive and unconventional products”. As for the price, it was agreed in the place of Mikakus who settles in the €145, regardless of the color chosen.
