Scientists of the North Caucasus Federal University, in collaboration with scientists of other scientific institutions of Russia and scientists of the United Arab Emirates, have created a new technology for starting artificial rain in dry weather .
The journal Atmospheric research indicates that this technology will effectively redistribute atmospheric moisture in the future and move clouds 50-100 kilometers horizontally, according to the researchers.
As is known, natural clouds are divided into two parts as local, emerging and collected in a certain place. With front-wheel drive, it can “go” long distances.
According to the researchers, an artificial increase in precipitation can be caused by influencing frontal clouds, which appear at the boundary between warm and cold air and whose movement depends on the movement of the front of air
Researchers point out that the real issue is not to encourage rain, but to “replace” clouds for drought and wildfires. The problem of drought lies in the fact that the weather front spreads, as a rule, in a certain direction from west to east, and with its movement, water reserves decrease.
Scientists from the North Caucasus Federal University and colleagues from the United Arab Emirates propose a new mechanism for solving this problem, using special chemical reagents that prolong the life of these clouds and increase the their saturation with moisture.
Robert Zakinian says, “The units are used to control air fronts, which create powerful vertical jets of warm, moist air. But at a height of about a kilometer, the energy of this vertical airflow weakens, preventing the wind from hitting any further. humid clouds. Now we are close to the solution, the problem is this”.
According to him, the detector used when concentrated on water molecules emits heat energy as it rises above the earth’s surface, increasing the energy and speed of the rising wind current. This method not only increases the intensity and amount of rain, but also extends the life of the clouds.
“The problem with our colleagues from the UAE is that the clouds in the front pass over the sea and the rain falls on the sea without reaching the land. The proposed method will allow to “pull” the weather front 50-100 km to the east, This will help improve the climate and economy of the regions.
