The Portuguese electric vehicle market grew by 24%, between January and September, to 42,453 units, with the largest increase in light vehicles, announced ACAP – Associação Automóvel de Portugal.
Only in September there were 5,984 units, 50.7% more than in the same month of 2021.
According to data released this Tuesday by the ACAP, until September the new registrations of light electric passenger vehicles totaled 41,936 units, a year-on-year gain of 23.1%.
Considering only the month of September, this market advanced 49.8% to 5,920 units.
Looking specifically at 100% electric vehicles (BEV), in September 2022 there was an increase of 42.7% compared to the same month in 2021, registering 2,137 new passenger cars,” he said in a statement.
In the accumulated nine months of 2022 there was an increase of 55.5% compared to the same period in 2021, with 12,192 fully electric vehicles registered.
On the other hand, the light vehicle market, which includes plug-in electrics and electric hybrids, showed the greatest evolution, more than tripling (224.5%) the number of units, compared to the same period in 2021, to 516.
In the ninth month of this year, 64 units were registered in this market, again more than tripling (236.8%) compared to the same month of the previous year.
“As for the heavy vehicle market, which encompasses the types of passengers and goods, in September 2022 there was no variation since no electric vehicles were registered,” he said.
Until September, it was only registered a heavy electric vehiclewhich resulted in a 66.7% dropcompared to 2021.
