The Nobel laureate forbids the possibility of teleporting people using quantum technologies

Anton Zeilinger, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, ruled out the possibility of teleporting people using quantum technology.

According to Anton Zeilinger, it is no longer possible to imagine transferring information about large physical objects using entangled particles.

Austrian scientist Anton Zeilinger, who won the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics for studying the phenomenon of quantum teleportation, does not believe that the achievements of quantum physics will allow people to be teleported into space. He announced this at a press conference in Stockholm on Tuesday, October 4th.

“Quantum teleportation is not like the movement of objects or people as shown in the famous American science fiction series Star Trek, and is possible by using the phenomenon of particle entanglement to transfer all the information carried by an object to another place where it is taken. together, but currently with large physical objects. It is impossible to imagine such steps involved.”

So far, he said, researchers have only achieved the movement of small particles. At the same time, Zeilinger admitted that “the question of mass is meaningless” because a person will not change by changing all the atoms in his body and maintaining the principles of organization.

Nobel Prize-winning Swedish journalists are skeptical of the suggestion that scientists will eventually learn, with the help of quantum teleportation, to recreate people elsewhere if necessary, as it replays the image of a television signal from a long distance on the screen.

He concluded that issues of human teleportation “do not lie in the realm of science today, as they did many years ago, but in the realm of science fiction.”

It is noteworthy that the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to a group of scientists who studied the phenomenon of quantum entanglement, the French Alain Aspe, the American John Clauser and the Austrian Anton Zeilinger. Quantum particles are perfectly coherent regardless of the distance between them. The discovery of this property paved the way for the development of new technologies in quantum computing and ultra-secure communication.
