The used car web platform iSeeCars, which analyzes market trends with a focus on the US, as well as functioning as a search engine, produced another study. This time focusing exclusively on one piece of information: mileage. More than 2 million cars produced and sold in at least 10 of the last 20 years were analyzed. The objective? Make a classification of the 20 models with the longest potential life based on the highest mileage. And the conclusion is overwhelmingly in favor of Toyota, which not only occupies first and second place in the table, but also places no less than 10 models in the list. classificationcapable of traveling more than 370,000 km.
This confirms once again that the Japanese manufacturer is one of the most reliable on the market, producing models that, when properly maintained, they run thousands and thousands of kilometers, without causing great “nuisance” to their owners.
In the list that we publish below, you will see that many of the models are not familiar to you, for one simple reason: the analysis focuses on the North American market. But that does not diminish its interest, since it includes four models that are well known to Europeans and sold in Portugal. All of them Toyotas.
Of the 20 models with the greatest useful life potential, according to iSeeCars, at least 2.5% (about 50,000 cars) have exceeded 200,000 miles, equivalent to 320,000 km, and 1% (20,000 units) register between 230,000 and 297,000. miles (between 370 and 478,000 km) in the last 20 years. The Toyota Land Cruiser is part of this group, which means that 1% of the units in circulation have at least 280,236 miles (450,996 km).
The list also includes three Honda models, two Fords and one Nissan. Chevrolet and GMC also ensure presence in pairs. More interesting is the fact that the Toyota Prius, the pioneer of hybrids, secures a place in the top 10, in 6th place, with an average of 250,600 miles, which corresponds to more than 400,000 km. The Highlander appears in tenth and the Camry closes the table. And it is curious that these three Toyotas are all hybridsas iSeeCars points out.
“This is a list of durable vehicles that are capable of driving more than 250,000 miles (402,000 km) with proper maintenance”, stresses iSeecArs analyst Karl Brauer. “This study does not reflect the maximum useful life of the model. It simply records the current readings on the odometer. It should be noted that most of these cars are active and running smoothly, ”he concludes.
